Background
I’m originally from Kailua, Hawaii; I came to the mainland to go to college, where I found snowboarding. The experience of being in the mountains changed the direction of my life. I graduated with a degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of Colorado, followed shortly after that with an Associate of Arts in Apparel Design. After a handful of years working for Brands like K2 (Ride) and Columbia Sportswear, I started my own company, Homeschool Snowboarding, which I ran as founding CEO for 12 years. After selling the brand in 2020, with a “lifetime” of entrepreneurial experience and I began a new chapter as a “civilian” after the trenches and battles of entrepreneurship, I decided to return to school and earn my Masters in Management from Harvard University. I additionally earned Certificates in Strategic Management and Innovation where I discovered the tremendous value of constant innovation to build and maintain competitive advantage. The challenges I encountered filled in the gaps in my knowledge and gave me new tools to attack entrepreneurship, innovation, human-centered design, and strategy. Coupled with my experience in the challenging “action sports” industry, I have a firm grasp of leveraging creativity with business acumen and innovation strategies to grow and scale businesses of any size. I am currently looking to use these skills and pursue new opportunities.
I enjoy snowboarding (as a civilian), Art, Playing guitar, riding motorcycles, and spending time with my family and 10-year-old son, Asher. I live in Portland, Oregon.
My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to find the simplest approach with the highest impact. I love contrast and I think in values of light and dark. Doing more with less is what I enjoy. I’m comfortable with discomfort and like to find new ways to do things. Turning disadvantages into advantages and the constraints of operating in the real world is where I thrive.
